scope:

This Network Rail document comprises a controlled list of Track bowties. Each bowtie is shown expanded at three different levels:

a) top event, threats and consequences only ('level 1');

b) as in (a) but expanded to show controls, including control type and accountable roles ('level 2'); and

c) as in (b) but expanded again to show control documents (e.g. standards) mapped to controls ('level 3').

Bowties are used to:

a) visually demonstrate the level of control Network Rail has over a specified risk;

b) support the identification of improvements to existing controls to manage risk more effectively; and

c) support the identification of the standards and control documents required to support the control of risk.

Purpose

This document provides the index and version control to the Track Bowties, diagrams that are used to visualise how risks are managed.
