ANSI INCITS 149
Financial Services - Financial Transaction Card Formsets - Location of Imprinted Information
| Organization: | ANSI |
| Publication Date: | 1 January 1986 |
| Status: | active |
| Page Count: | 7 |
scope:
This standard provides the location of the imprinted account number, area for source ID. amount of transaction. and date of transaction as they appear on 52- column and 80-column card size financial transaction card formsets This standard does not apply to financial transaction formsets itemized by many point-of-sale devices such as cash register printers.
Dimensions are given in both U.S. customary (inch) and SI (metric) units The U.S customary dimensions are exact, SI dimensions are rounded
Standardization of these locations results in (1) improved automatic processing of standardized financial transaction formsets in an interchange environment where more than one card issuer's financial transaction formset and financial transaction card have to be processed and (2) a reduction in the need for multiple imprinters at the point of sale.
Examples of industry interchange relationships which may benefit from imprint standardization are
(1) Airlines (bank, travel and entertainment)
(2) Banks (airline, petroleum, retail)
(3) Petroleum (bank, travel and entertainment)
(4) Retail (bank, travel and entertainment)
Moreover, each industry has varying degrees of inter-change among its own members.
NOTE: The airline industry uses a standard ATC-122 universal financial transaction card formset with different imprint locations. An example of these imprint locations is given in the Appendix.
