scope:
This specification stipulates the complete range of tests for emergency parachute assemblies from which the designer shall draw up a schedule to the satisfaction of the approving authority. These tests must be completed to the satisfaction of the approving authority before the assembly is accepted for service use. The designer's attention is drawn to the relevant parts of DTD 1127b-1 (Test Specification for Aircrew Emergency Parachutes) and DTD 1127b-2 (Design Specification for Aircrew Emergency Parachutes) .In the event of there being a conflict between the requirements in the specification for the escape system, and the interpretation of this test Specification the Approving Authority shall be the arbiter.
Before the tests for a particular assembly are scheduled the Designer shall provide to the satisfaction of the Approving Authority a detailed description of the assembly, and evidence concerning the extent to which the assembly, and its components have been tested already. This shall state those areas in design where a functional or mechanical failure of a component would seriously impair the performance or the assembly.
During the drawing up of the schedule of tests consideration shall be given to the relevant parts of the current issues of the following documents: AVP 24, 25, 88, 970. Defence Standards.
The schedule of tests agreed with the Approving Authority shall show that neither the functioning of the parachute nor the safety of the parachutist are adversely affected by its use with the associated ejection seat or other equipment.
When any change is made to an existing assembly the Designer shall describe the change to the Approving Authority, who will agree the range of tests appropriate for the acceptance of the change.
