This specification is one of a series issued by the Procurement Executive, Ministry of Defence to meet a requirement not covered by an existing British Standard for aerospace material.

Where metric units are stated these are to be regarded as the standard. The conversions of metric units to British units are approximate and more accurate conversions should be based on B.S. 350: "Conversion factors and tables".

This steel is suitable for use where high strength and weldability are required, but the Design Authority should be consulted with regard to the method of welding and subsequent heat treatment.

Filler rods comply with D.T.D. 5152 are suitable for welding this steel by an appropriate process.
