scope:
This standard applies to the safe performance of newly produced compressed natural gas fuel system components, intended for use on natural gas powered vehicles.
This standard does not apply to the following:
(a) liquefied natural gas fuel system components located upstream of, and including, the vaporizer;
(b) natural gas fuel system components incorporated during the manufacture of motor vehicles originally manufactured in compliance with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) for Compressed Natural Gas Fuelled Vehicles and the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS);
(c) fuel containers;
(d) stationary gas engines;
(e) container mounting hardware;
(f) tubing and fittings.
This standard applies to newly produced compressed natural gas vehicular components, constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials, suitable for service pressures as specified by the manufacturer for use on internal combustion engines.
If a value for measurement as given in this standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as the specification.
