This Standard applies to single-phase electric tools of the bench type intended for use in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, when connected to a nominal system voltage of 240 V or less.

Requirements for cord-connected, double-insulated bench tools are specified in Clause 7 of this Standard.

This Standard does not apply to

(a) tools intended for industrial use;

(b) tools covered by CSA Standard C22.2 No. 73, Electrically-Equipped Machine Tools;

(c) tools covered by CSA Standard C22.2 No. 105, Electrical Equipment for Woodworking Machinery; and

(d) magnetic drill presses nor diamond core drills. These tools are covered by CSA Standard C22.2 No. 71.1, Portable Electric Tools.
