Purpose

Determination of the flow of coolant through the heater core and measurement of the resistance of the heater core in order to evaluate the heater flow and the resulting heater output.

Foreword

The former test procedure GME L-13D-1 has been extended to include current possible measuring methods (direct flow measurement in the vehicle).

Furthermore, the heater flow shall also be measured in the thermostat control range, particularly in the case of new designs, in order to enable the detection of drops in heater flow due to changes in the coolant circuit.

Applicability

For all water-cooled engines.
