scope:

This pre-standard specifies mechanical and structural safety requirements for all types of domestic seating for adults including folding and adjustable seating. This pre-standard applies to seating that can be converted into beds, but only when in the seating configuration. It does not include durability requirements for castors, for reclining and tilting mechanisms nor for seat height adjustment mechanisms, such as gas cylinders. It does not apply to outdoor seating. Requirements for ageing and degradation are not included.
