This standard specifies requirements for the design and construction of high challenge fire walls, fire walls, and fire barrier walls including protection of openings and penetrations.
Purpose. This standard prescribes minimum requirements for the design and construction of high challenge fire walls, fire walls, and fire barrier walls for use in providing safety to life and protection of property from fire.
Application. The minimum requirements for high challenge fire walls, fire walls, and fire barrier walls apply to walls that are required to separate buildings or subdivide a building to prevent the spread of fire. The minimum fire resistance rating of a wall assembly is outside the scope of this document.
