ATIS T1.TR.77

Scope, purpose, and application

The summary data in the Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG) final report is not sufficient to perform the mathematical calculations of T1.TR.72-2001 as applied to the data sets specified in Technical Reports T1.TR.74-2001 and T1.TR.75-2001. Missing from that report are: the number of viewers per source sequence (SRC) and hypothetical reference circuit (HRC) combination, variance of the mean opinion scores, and calculated objective values for the two VQMs. This Technical Report provides the necessary data from the VQEG validation experiments.

Another use of this data is to allow other VQEG Phase 1 proponents or organizations with new VQMs, the opportunity to make the calculations of T1.TR.72-2001 and potentially propose other Technical Reports as part of this series. By using exactly this subjective data set, the cross-calibration calculation is valid. With a different data set, only the accuracy calculation will be valid.

The two Matlab m-files contain logistic equations of the form suitable for PSNR and the PQR method. If a different curve fitting function were desired for another VQM, the code would require suitable modification.
