Purpose of This Notice.
This notice establishes policy and guidance for conducting Flight Validation (FV) of Satellite-Based Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) and Special Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP). This document supplements and does not change the requirements of FAA Order 8200.1, United States Flight Inspection Manual. It also describes the requirement for simulator evaluations and obstacle assessments to be conducted prior to FV. For background information and definitions, refer to appendix C.
