scope:

Equipment Covered. This standard applies to all integral-frame boom-supported elevating work platforms which either telescope, articulate, rotate, or extend beyond the base dimensions to position personnel, along with their tools and materials, at work locations, are power operated with primary functions controlled from the platform, and are either manually or self-propelled.

Equipment Not Covered. This standard does not apply to the equipment listed below:

(1) Mobile ladder stands and scaffolds (towers) (such as those covered in American National Standard for Manually Propelled Mobile Ladder Stands and Scaffolds (Towers), ANSI A92.1-1977)

(2) Vehicle-mounted elevating and rotating aerial devices (such as non-integral-frame truck-mounted devices, covered in American National Standard for Vehicle-Mounted Elevating and Rotating Aerial Devices, ANSI A92.2-1979)

(3) Manually propelled elevating work platforms (such as those covered in American National Standard for Manually Propelled Elevating Work Platforms, ANSI A92.3-1980)

(4) Self-propelled vertically adjustable work platforms (such as those covered in American National Standard for Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms, ANSI A92.6-1979)

(5) Suspended, powered platforms for exterior building maintenance (such as those covered in American National Standard Safety Requirements for Powered Platforms for Exterior Building Maintenance, ANSI A120.1-1970)

(6) Vertically adjustable platforms used primarily to raise and lower materials and equipment from one elevation to another

(7) Fire-fighting equipment (such as that covered in American National Standard Practice for the Maintenance, Care, Testing, and Use of Fire Department Aerial Ladders and Elevating Platforms, ANSI/NFPA 1904-1975)
