PURPOSE
Pursuant to the authority vested in the Secretary of Defense under references (a) and (b), this Directive:
Establishes responsibilities for policy oversight, management, and support of the DoD Centers for Regional Security Studies.
Implements and supersedes reference (c).
APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE
This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").
The DoD Centers for Regional Security Studies include the following:
The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. (See DoD Directive 5200.34, reference (d).)
The Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. (See DoD Directive 5200.38, reference (e).)
The Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, at the National Defense University (NDU). (See DoD Directive 3200.13, reference (f).)
The Africa Center for Strategic Studies, at the NDU.
The Near East-South Asia Center for Strategic Studies, at the NDU.
This Directive supersedes any conflicting portions of references (d), (e), and (f).
