scope:

Purpose. This instruction implements Department of Defense (DOD) policy and provides guidance for the effective management of general/flag officer (G/FO) actions involving joint duty assignments (JDAs) or positions of importance and responsibility per Title 10, United States Code (USC) (10 USC), and DOD policy and directives.

Applicability. This instruction applies to the Military Departments, the Joint Staff, the unified combatant commands, Defense colleges, the Defense agencies, the DOD Field Activities, US elements of the combined commands and other DOD components and Federal agencies to which general and flag officers may be assigned.
