The Scope of this Manual is to provide guidance on the application of the requirements for the life cycle of Miscellaneous Assets owned by LU for:
Inception and design
Construction, installation, testing and commissioning
Inspection
Analytical assessment
Condition assessment and certification
Maintenance
Strengthening and Renewal
Decommissioning
The information contained in this Manual is derived mainly from historical information contained in existing LU documents and therefore does not necessarily reflect current good practice. Where possible, existing historical information has been supplemented by references to current good industry practice.
This issue of the manual replaces G-057A2.
Purpose
The purpose of this Manual of Good Practice is to support LU Standard 1-057 (Civil Engineering - Miscellaneous Assets) and provide guidance on the whole life cycle requirements for Miscellaneous Assets. These assets comprise:
Roads, paving and car parks
Lighting towers and high mast columns
Lighting standards
Chimneys - concrete, masonry and metal
Water towers
Dry stone walls (free standing wall)
Boundary walls (free standing wall)
Non-boundary walls (free standing wall)
