GENERAL
South West Trains (SWT) operates scheduled empty coaching stock and, as required, passenger trains diverted in emergency over LU track between East Putney and Wimbledon under Track Agreement T02 between LU and NR (for details of Track Agreement T02,please contact the LU National Rail Agreements team).
The LU Schedules Manager, National Rail Agreements team and the Events and Closures team must be notified of all planned possessions affecting SWT or LU operations. NR must notify SWT of both LU and NR possessions. Consent by LU to possessions and closures on this route, unless urgent, is unlikely to be granted at times of major sports events served by the District line on this route. The LU/NR ownership boundaries are at the north end of East Putney station, Wimbledon Park (south of station) and at Wimbledon.
There are traction supply boundaries between LU and NR, located on LU infrastructure on the north side of the Fulham Railway Bridge river crossing, at East Putney, at Wimbledon Park and at Wimbledon.
Traction current is supplied by NR from the Raynes Park power control centre and is energised 24 hours. Track and associated assets and infrastructure between the boundary to the north of East Putney station and East Putney Station are the responsibility of LU but maintained by NR contractors, and are not served by District line trains. NR assets, e.g. radio masts and Train Protection & Warning System (TPWS) assets are present between East Putney and Wimbledon. NR provides signalling control and traction current supply to LU under various agreements, and the route is operated under national Railway Group Standards (RGS).
There are no LU Engineering Hours on this route. All work by LU's contractors (except where track access is only needed) must be done under a possession.
Isolations of the traction current will also be required. NR South Eastern Territory must be notified of LU possession / isolation requirements on any part of the route. The Metronet (MR) Sub Surface Lines (SSL) Maintenance Planning Manager must seek NR South Eastern Territory Outside Party Engineer consent for LU / MR SSL works at the infrastructure boundaries or which affects NR assets on the shared route.
LU owned assets and infrastructure, including signalling and communication cables, begin at the infrastructure boundaries.
LU must be notified of possessions on Waterloo
- Wimbledon via Wandsworth Town route infrastructure adjacent to these locations.
MR SSL Third Party Engineer approval is necessary for NR works at the infrastructure boundaries or which affects at the infrastructure boundaries or which affects LU assets or which impact on the NR signalling control and power supply services to LU on the route. NR applications for Third Party Engineer approval should be sought, in the first instance, from the LU Infrastructure Protection Manager and not from MR SSL.
