INTRODUCTION

- The aim of Part I is to show marking and colour coding which will serve to identify the use, effect produced and hazard potential of ammunition used by NATO Forces.

- The term "marking" includes basic overall colours, role and hazard coding colours, as well as descriptive markings and symbols which identify the ammunition and identify any special characteristics.

- Part II shows the non-preferred markings in use by NATO nations. The aim is to move to a 100 % preferred marking.

- Definition :

- Preferred : the marking method, agreed by NATO nations.

- Non-preferred : markings wich may appeer in nations' stocks.

- Future markings will be according to the preferred markings.
