PURPOSE

In accordance with the authority in Reference (a) and the guidelines and responsibilities as assigned in Reference (b), this Manual provides uniform procedures for the execution of DCIP activities.

This Volume describes a process for DoD leaders, once risk has been assessed, to determine, plan, justify, and implement remediation actions to reduce risk to defense critical infrastructure (DCI). The process documented in this Volume ensures informed decisions are made to manage risk to DCI. Informed risk management decisions are important to ensure the availability of DCI while making efficient use of limited resources.

APPLICABILITY. This Volume applies to:

OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").

Each Defense Infrastructure Sector Lead Agent (DISLA) identified in Reference (a).
