PREFACE

This is the common ANCE, CSA, and UL standard for Molded-Case Circuit Breakers, Molded-Case Switches, and Circuit-Breaker Enclosures. It is the first edition of CSA C22.2 No. 5 (supersedes C22.2 No. 5.1-M91, Moulded Case Circuit Breakers and C22.2 No. 5.2-M90, Moulded Case Switches), the tenth edition of UL 489, and the third edition of NMX-J-266-ANCE. This common standard is being revised by UL to incorporate a change to 7.1.4.1.6 that reinstates and clarifies a requirement inadvertently omitted during a previous publication of the standard. This change is being incorporated by CSA as an errata and will be incorporated by ANCE in a future publication.

This common standard was prepared by the Association of Standardization and Certification (ANCE), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL). The efforts and support of the CANENA Technical Harmonization Committee are gratefully acknowledged.

This standard was reviewed by the CSA Subcommittee on Moulded Case Circuit Breakers under the jurisdiction of the CSA Technical Committee on Industrial Products and the Strategic Resource Group, and has been formally approved by the CSA Technical Committee.

This standard has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as an American National Standard.
