Introduction
Places of safety are areas where persons can safely stand or walk within the track environment clear of the passage of trains.
The place of safety could be in the cess or 'ten foot' depending on the minimum safe distance from the nearest running rails.
A place of safety can also be provided where a physical barrier separates a location from the track.
