Introduction

There have been a number of incidents over the past year or so where investigations have highlighted consistent failures in safety critical communications between various members of staff, in particular between Service Control and Train Operators.

These failures not only introduce safety risks, but they can also aggravate and prolong the impact of the incident on the service.

This notice is intended to remind all service control staff of the basic principles when passing safety critical messages.
