This Standard establishes the minimum recommended rating practice and operating considerations for gear speed reducers used with propeller type fans on industrial water cooling towers.

Where applicable, Standards published by the American Gear Manufacturers Association (hereinafter referred to as AGMA) are incorporated and made a part of this Standard by reference.

PURPOSE

The severe operating conditions encountered in cooling tower service make it desirable to establish minimum recommended design, installation, and operating practices for gear speed reducers to assure long service life.
