This instruction governs the collection, safeguarding, maintenance, use, access, amendment, and dissemination of PI1 by NAVAIR, including information maintained in a PA system of records (SOR) .

Purpose. To ensure that all Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) military members, civilian employees, and contractors are fully aware of their responsibilities under the provisions of the Privacy Act (PA); to balance the government's need to maintain information with the obligation to protect individuals against unwarranted invasions of their privacy stemming from the collection, maintenance, use, and disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information (PII); to require privacy management practices and procedures be employed; to evaluate privacy risks in web sites and unclassified non-national security information systems; and to provide procedures and assign responsibilities for implementing references (a) through (c) . Additional guidance provided in references (d) thru (g) is hereby incorporated into the NAVAIR PA Program.
