These requirements cover powered and non-powered cabinets that are to be used to store tools and similar products and will be located indoors in service garages.

Powered cabinets shall be powered by an electrical source not exceeding 240 Vac and shall be cord connected. These cabinets are intended to be installed and used in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.

These requirements do not cover portable tool chests or toolboxes intended to be transported by hand. These requirements do not cover Flammable Liquid Storage Cabinets, which are covered under the Standard for Flammable Liquid Storage Cabinets, UL 1275.
