This document contains all requirements of the air interface for I-CDMA compatible ATs and BSRs, either directly or by reference to another published document. The I-CDMA air interface is composed of three specific layers analogous to the OSI Network Layer model. These are specified in the following clauses of this document: the Physical Layer is specified in clause 2, the Link Layer is specified inclause 3, and the Network Layer is specified inclause 4.

Purpose

The technical requirements contained in this document form a compatibility standard for I-CDMA systems. Compatibility means that any I-CDMA AT is able to send and receive data packets with any I-CDMA BSR.

This standard ensures that ATs and BSRs can obtain service in a system manufactured in accordance with I-CDMA standards. This standard does not address the reliability of that service, nor does it cover equipment performance or measurement procedures.
