Material Description. This specification defines the adhesion requirements of plastic claddings that are fixed to the wheel using a liquid applied adhesive and/or an expanding foam.
The adhesion of the cladding to the wheel is evaluated following environmental exposure by measuring the force required to push the entire cladding off the wheel using a tensile/compression test machine.
This specification applies to substrates, paint, primers, adhesion promoters, adhesives and foam materials that have been qualified and approved to the appropriate GM specification and listed in the GM Materials File (i.e., GM Supply Power).
Symbols. Not applicable.
Typical Applications. This specification applies to decorative plastic wheel covers or claddings that are permanently bonded to metal wheels.
Remarks. Not applicable.
