Purpose.
To provide the requirements for weapons systems, procured by Naval Air Enterprise (NAE) , which contain Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), licensed radioactive by-product materials.
Scope and Applicability.
This instruction applies to all NAVAIR sites, which includes NAVAIR Headquarters (NAVAIRHQ), Program Executive Officers (PEOs), business units, and field activities who develop and/or procure weapons systems that contain NRC licensed radioactive by-product materials. It also covers all Navy and Marine Corps organizations involved with the requisitioning, possession, handling, use, storage, inventory, and disposal of these items which are permitted to NAVAIR.
