scope:
- This specification covers requirements of a general nature, pertinent to all types and classes of Naval gun barrels. When used in conjunction with the detailed specification of the specific gun barrel desired it furnishes all requirements necessary for the procurement of service gun barrels.
- Gun Barrels shall be of the following types and classes.
Type I - Monobloc
Class 1 - Not subject to radial expansion.
Class 2 - Subject to radial expansion.
Type II - Built Up
Class 1 - No part subject to radial expansion.
Class 2 - One or more parts subject to radial expansion.
Type III - Loose Liner
Class 1 - Two components, no parts assembled by shrinkage, no part radially expanded.
