Organization: FCI
Publication Date: 1 January 1979
Status: active
Page Count: 13
scope:

This recommended standard describes procedures and methods of determining certain electrical characteristics of solenoid valves commonly published as catalog data such as power input (Watts,W) holding/insrush volt amperes (VA), power factor, and holding/inrush current ). This voluntary standard is applicable to solenoid operated valves which are designed for use with a sinusoidal (alternating current) voltage or with a constant (direct current) voltage.  Results are based on Stipulated Ambient Temperature and no influence of fluid temperature is included.  Also excluded is a method of determining inducatance values which, because of the complexity of the subject and the difficulty of  proposing a "typical" circuit to simulate field conditions, may be added to this standard at a later date.

PURPOSE

To recommend the test setup, instrumentation, and control of other influencing parameters under which normal catalog data regarding electrical characteristics of solenoid valves are to be measured so that there is a common basis for comparison and to provide meaningful data for electrical system design.
