INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE

This System Requirements Document SRD aims to outline the requirments to strengthen and broaden the capabilities of radio transmisison technologies and associated network capabilities and services of Ultra Mobile Broadband. It is expected that the wireless telecommunication systems will further evolve in the upcoming decade, continuing on the path of techological innovation, fostering new services and capabilities. Increased efficiency and flexibility in setting up and operating wireless networks is expected to enable ease of deployment and operation from operator's perspective. By the same token, these enhancments are aimed at making services easier to use and better in performance from user's perspective.

The intent of this document is to outline the appropriate requirements, which will govern the development of radio interface and IOS specifications to address likely improved performance goals, and more flexible deployment models (meshed network topologies, mix of macro, pico, and femto cells).
