INTRODUCTION

The Bill of Materials, or BOM, for Product Engineering Drawings is a required chart used to identify all components or "Purchased in Assembly" (PIA) parts that are used in an assembly. BOM's contain information that is primarily used by downstream customers such as Materials Engineering for materials listings and recyclability attributes, Pre-Production Management (PPM) for WERS component to assembly structure and Customer Service Division for service part identification and assembly structure. See Figure A-3.1. For traceability and correctness, the BOM shall be maintained with up-to-date Ford and Supplier part numbers. The component-toassembly structure shall match the Engineering Release System.

The stock list for Manufacturing Assembly and Detail drawings shall be compiled as outlined in the following instructions. This list shall include all items which are detailed and components selected from commercial catalogs or Ford Motor Company Manufacturing Standards. Included sub-assemblies, where used, shall also be listed.

The complete stock list may, where practicable, be shown on sheet #1 of the assembly drawing. See Figure A-3.2.
