Abstract:

During the process of cleaning the Galileo slip rings, the PCA cleaning fluid obtained from JPL stores was found to contain chemical and particulate contaminants. When cleaning critical spacecraft components, the cleaning fluid should be carefully checked, not just visually, for chemical and particulate contaminants prior to use.
