Description of Driving Event:

An explosion occurred during the cleaning operation of a tank containing nitrogen tetroxide and residual hydrazine. The cleaning fluid used was trichloroethylene, considered to be inert and compatible with the chemicals involved. The intensity of the explosion killed two workmen. Bench tests were run with conflicting results and further tests were planned.
