Organization: ACPA
Publication Date: 1 January 2002

Merchandise Details

The 16-page publication covers concrete pavement design for aircraft less than 100,000 lbs. This publication is a major revision and update from the previous eight-page version and includes updated aircraft information tables and thickness design recommendations. A detailed appendix gives examples of customizing the thickness design process.

The publication also reflects the recently adopted FAA Advisory Circular 150/5320-6E, which sets forth minimum standards for airfield pavement design for projects funded under the Airport Improvement Program and those receiving funding derived from passenger facility charges (PFC's).

IS202P provides an overview of concrete's advantages for runways, taxiways, and aprons, and then, progresses into more detailed discussions about concrete pavement design and construction. A special section also describes concrete overlays for distressed concrete, asphalt, and composite airfield pavements. Included in this section are descriptions of basic types, thickness design consideration, factors to consider when preparing for overlays, and jointing considerations.
