Description of Driving Event:

A Nalge desiccator, National stock number 6640-00-569-7964, vacuum, plastic, 250 MM, violently imploded after being evacuated about 1/2 hour before the incident. The force of the implosion threw parts and desiccant with sufficient force such that injury could have occurred if personnel were nearby. Although cautions for the use and cleaning of this device were included in the manufacturer's instructions, as near as can be determined the desiccator had been used properly.
