This specification covers the chemical, physical, source approval, application procedure, and quality control requirements for a thermosetting type powder coating.

Restricted Chemical Substances

Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification.

APPLICATION

This specification covers all thermosetting acrylic, epoxy, polyester, epoxy-polyester hybrid, and polyurethane powders. It is intended for electrostatic spray or fluidized bed application over such substrates as cold rolled steel, zinc die cast, chrome plated steel, die cast aluminum, galvanized steel and stainless steel parts, or other substrates. This specification covers materials to be used as primers providing corrosion protection under another topcoat system, as well as a topcoat with zinc phosphated rounded-edge sheet and molded parts, or as a topcoat on cathodic electrodeposited primer.
