Description of Driving Event:

During mission operations training for HST Servicing Missions, GSFC conducts "internal" simulations to prepare the operations for Joint Integrated Simulations with the entire Shuttle Operations Team. It was recognized early on that it would be a tremendous benefit to include key JSC positions including the payload officer and his support team in these internal simulations. This facilitated early JSC/GSFC team coordination prior to Joint Integrated Simulations. It also improves the realism of the training by modeling all of the interfaces and to a certain extent modeling some normal work tasks and anomalies external to either center. For SM3A, this type of training was also deemed valuable to the Lead Flight Director who also participated in some "internal" simulations.
