Products that can be licensed by AMCA International to bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for a Smoke Management Fan are centrifugal fans, mixed flow fans, axial fans, power roof ventilators and propeller fans.

The program applies to fans within the scope of AMCA International for which performance rating catalogs are published and made available to the public. When only a portion of a cataloged series of sizes are licensed, at least a majority of the sizes cataloged shall be licensed. It does not apply to special units for which performance ratings are not published. When performance ratings for both licensed and unlicensed products are contained in the same catalog, there must be a clear distinction made between licensed and unlicensed products, as required in AMCA 11.

When one or more licensed products are used as component parts of a larger unit, the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal may not be applied to the complete unit unless the complete unit has been itself licensed in accordance with this program.

Purpose

The purpose of the program is to:

• Provide the buyer, user, and specifier assurance that the manufacturer's published performance ratings for fans used in smoke management systems are reliable and accurate, and further, to provide these parties with information on how the product was tested, what accessories were included, and other pertinent information so that they may be able to select a fan that will provide the performance required.

• Provide a procedure for verification of the manufacturer's performance ratings on a regular schedule by check-testing of the certified product line in the AMCA International Laboratory.

• Provide assurance that competitors' ratings are based on standard test methods and ratings procedures.

This document provides the specific requirements for a program that applies only to fans used in smoke management systems. All of the requirements of AMCA Publication 11, Certified Ratings Program, Operating Manual (latest edition) shall apply unless superseded by requirements herein. In addition, every product line licensed under the guidelines specified herein shall also be licensed under AMCA Publication 211, Certified Ratings Program, Product Rating Manual for Fan Air Performance.
