This dash-numbered part of the Automated Engineering Document Preparation System, MIL-STD-35, covers detailed requirements of Solid-State Relays.

The purpose of this dash-numbered part of MIL-STD-35 is to provide a requester necessary information to properly prepare a request for a Solid-State Relay Military Specification Exception (MSE).

It is recommended that MIL-STD-1346, Relay, Selection and Application be reviewed prior to using MIL-STD-35-101(MI).

The title of a generated MSE must be selected from one of the MSE titles listed in the Military Specification Exception Title Index (see 1.4.2). If a suitable MSE title is not found in the Index, a request should be forwarded to USAMICOM, ATTN: DRSMI-RCS, along with the desired title, and a related document. A code will be assigned and the code, title, and related document will be made a part of the Index. The requester will be notified of the assigned code.

One of the six-digit characteristic value codes, listed as Codes in the Index, entered on a Specification Requirements Sheet (SRS), will specify that the title of the MSE will be the title shown with that code in the Index.

Each MSE title listed in the Index is compatible with the document(s) listed with that title under Related Document. The list of related documents may or may not be a complete listing. The information contained under Related Document Coverage is intended for the requester's reference; when more than one document is listed for a MSE title, this information will be found useful in determining which of the documents is most suitable for use as the applicable general specification. When no document is listed under Related Document, exception may be taken to the most appropriate document listed in the Index under any other MSE title.

The MSE title may or may not be the same as the title used in DODISS, FIIG or the document to which the MSE document was written. In general, the MSE title uses the basic federal item name listed in Cataloging Handbook H6. However, titles with additional modifying and identifying words are provided to assist a designer in defining the scope of the MSE. Also, less restrictive titles are provided to prevent exclusion of devices. If the item selected from the AEDPS document becomes an item of supply, then the Cataloging Handbook H6 nomenclature must be used. Under each MSE title is the applicable FIIG Item Name Code from Cataloging Handbook H6 and the Federal Stock Class from the Standardization Directory (SD-1).

Documents referenced in the MSE that will be listed in the Applicable Documents paragraph (2.1) of the MSE will be identified by the exact title that appears on the referenced document. Titles of MSE's, titles from DODISS, or titles from FIIG's will not be entered in paragraph 2.1.

MSE Title: Relay, Solid-State Code 021001 Federal Stock Class 5945 FIIG Item Name Code 31446 Related Document Number Coverage MIL-R-28750 Solid-State Relay General Specification MSE Title: Relay, Telegraph, Solid-State Code 021002 Federal Stock Class 5945 FIIG Item Name Code 31446 Related Document Number Coverage MIL-R-27777 Solid-State Telegraph Relays General Specification
