This Standard Test Method sets out the method for the calibration of a nuclear surface moisture-density gauge for field use against the results obtained by the method for the determination of the water content of an aggregate (see test 3.1), and the method contained in Test 4.1.1, The density of compacted aggregate - Sand replacement method. A calibration curve is prepared for each material type, and for each test depth and mode of gauge operation (see Note (1)).
