scope:
At the request of the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the NFPA Standards Council chartered the NFPA 70E Technical Committee and assigned it the responsibility of defining safe work practices that should be used in general industry. The scope of NFPA 70E is similar to the scope of the National Electrical Code. NFPA 70E is intended to be in harmony with the NEC and other NFPA standards and codes.
A subtle but important difference between the scope of the NEC and the scope of NFPA 70E is that the NEC applies to installations, whereas NFPA 70E applies to workplaces. To ensure consistency between the requirements contained in the NEC and NFPA 70E, all NEC panels and the NFPA 70E Technical Committee report to the Association through the same Technical Correlating Committee
