PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This method determines the breaking strength of sewn seams in woven textile fabrics.

The seams may be obtained either from a previously sewn article or may be prepared in the laboratory according to agreed specifications.

The method evaluates a straight seam line and is not applicable if the seam line is curved.

This method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use.
