INTRODUCTION
This guide has been developed to assist in understanding the critical configuration Management (CM) concepts, processes, and policies to be implemented under Integrated Weapon Systems Management (IWSM). It provides for uniform implementation of the CM critical processes throughout the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), and should be used in conjunction with the IWSM Implementation Guide (AFMC Pamphlet 800-60). This is an interim guide and eventually will be included as part of the Handbooks associated with MIL-STDs-499 and-973.

• Different Technical Baseline definitions
• Inconsistent practices for implementing Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and
• Interface Management (IM)
The resolution of these barriers and the resulting new concepts,
processes, and policies are addressed in this guide. New tools and
procedures have been incorporated into the Systems
