This recommended practice is intended to cover the designation of plain weave square or rectangular mesh cloth. Other weaves are available, but are not covered in these recommendations because they are not generally used on shale shakers in oil well drilling operations.

Purpose. This recommended practice provides a reference or guide for the standard designation of shale shaker screen cloth to describe the essential dimensions of the cloth. It is based on practices which experience has shown to be functionally convenient and practical.
