FOREWORD

This manual has been prepared by the American Petroleum Institute in the interests of preventing accidents in connection with the cleaning of storage tanks which have contained finished gasoline and similar products. "Cleaning Petroleum Storage Tanks, Section A - Crude-Oil and Unfinished-Products Tanks" deals with similar problems relating to the cleaning of tanks which have contained other petroleum products.

Section B contains information of value to supervisors, foremen, and others who are responsible for the safety of men and equipment when gasoline storage tanks are cleaned. It should be useful as a guide for safe practices whenever and wherever such tanks are cleaned.
