INTRODUCTION

Under sponsorship of the API, Bonner & Moore has studied gasoline vapor recovery and the related costs of applying current recovery techniques, as a means of reducing benzene emissions. The results of this study are reported herein.

The study was performed with the guidance and support of API's Committee on Environmental Affairs.

The study was limited in scope by considering vapor recovery application to motor gasoline transport, distribution, and dispensing. In other words, we were concerned only with gaeoline vapor recovery from the point where it leaves the refinery to the point where it enters the automobile fuel tank. Further limitations were imposed by the need to perform the study in a relatively short time and to rely on public data as much as possible.

Beyond this introduction, this report contains two sections and a bibliography of material reviewed and used in our investigation. Section 2 presents a summary of results. Section 3 presents methodology and detail in support of the results.
