This standard applies to two types of diesel fuel, Type A and Type B, that are suitable for use in off-road and stationary diesel engines.

Both types of fuel may be used in off-road¹ diesel-powered equipment in services involving relatively high loads, for example, industrial equipment and heavy mobile equipment used in construction.

Type A is intended for use when ambient temperatures require better low-temperature properties than Type B.

Type B is intended for use when ambient temperatures and fuel storage conditions allow use of such fuel.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
