FOREWORD

This publication outlines suggested recommended practices for the protection of persons from injury, and for the protection of property from damage, by fire which might occur in and around petroleum installations during the operation of gas or electric welding and cutting equipment In this publication, no attempt has been made to cover the design or installation of gas and electric welding equipment.

The American Petroleum Institute takes no position as to whether any method, apparatus, or product mentioned herein is covered by an existing patent, nor as to the validity of any patent alleged to cover any such method, apparatus, or product Furthermore, the information contained in this publication does not grant the right, by implication or otherwise, for manufacture, sale, or use in connection with any method, apparatus, or product covered by letters patent; nor does it insure anyone against liability for infringement of letters patent.
