This Standard applies to all civil engineering assets and sets out the following generic requirements:
a) Competence;
b) Technical approval, processes and assurance;
c) Design of service fixings and connections for new structures;
d) Ground investigations;
e) Management of sub-standard assets;
f) Impact on operational railway and adjacent structures;
g) Asset and structure identification;
h) Condition assessment and certification;
j) Structural materials;
k) Cutting, grinding, drilling, fixing to and supporting from existing structures;
m) Decommissioning, demolition and site clearance;
n) Access covers;
o) Service crossings;
p) Evidence of compliance.
This issue of the standard replaces 1-050A2.
Purpose
This standard sets out the generic requirements that apply to civil engineering assets, and is to be read in conjunction with LU Standard 1-538 and the appropriate LU Civil Engineering Standards.
A supporting Manual of Good Practice G-050 gives guidance and explanation of the requirements given in this Standard.
