scope:
This Standard specifies a design guideline for electric power assisted cycles which are general-purpose bicycles or tricycles specified in table 1 of JIS D 9111 equipped with electric motors of such a construction that generates driving power proportionally to power of pedal cranking generated by human power without generating power separately from rider's pedalling and which comply with the criteria for the "bicycles" set forth in Article 9 Paragraph 2 of Enforcement Regulation of the Road Traffic Law.
